They say there’s no better way to broaden your horizons than travelling the world. There are so many ways to step out of your comfort zone at Summer Camp!
It sounds like a bit of a cliche, but people who head to camp each year tell us they really do find themselves in America.
Life at camp is totally different from anything you’ll have experienced before, but it’s the most fun you’ll ever have in a job.
Today’s Guest Blogger, Meaghan Ni Raghlaigh, spent two summers working at Brookwood Camp.
Nobody had ever accused me of being a morning person or having too much energy until I went to camp for the first time.
Camp brought out the best in me, that’s just what camp does to everyone. You find skills you never knew you had.
My two summers at The Sports Academy at Brookwood Camps helped me discover that I want to work with kids for the rest of my life.
The experience has changed me for the better and I will be forever grateful that I went to camp!
Our schedule of activities was different every day, but there was a healthy mix. There were sessions of sports, arts and crafts, cooking classes, biking, and photography.
All the campers and Camp Counselors all participated in the activities together. I made a fool of myself trying to play sports, but it was fun!
The mix of activities kept the day fresh. It was a good chance to get to know a different group of campers.
After my Camp Contract finished, I went travelling around America. It was the perfect way to end my Summer Camp experience.
Friends I made at camp road tripped to Boston with me and we took in the sights, wandered around, went to street festivals, and just generally had the best time!
I even spent a while in New York City by myself, which was an incredibly empowering way to end my summer.
