It can be a pretty intense way to spend a summer, so it’s important to find a way to switch off at Summer Camp.
Camp is an amazing environment to work in. You’ll be surrounded by happy staff and bubbly campers.
Everyone needs downtime, so it’s important you find a good way to relax.
Today’s guest blogger, Liv Sewell, gives her tips on the best way to switch off at Summer Camp…
Books are a perfect way to escape all of the craziness going on around you.
I was lucky enough to have older girls in my cabin who were reading constantly.
That gave me the chance to watch over them in downtime but also have a little read myself.
If you don’t have that opportunity, why not grab some time after all the campers are in bed?
Take a flashlight and give yourself a bit of time to unwind and relax before you fall asleep!
I would strongly recommend having an iPod. I forgot mine, but I borrowed a friend’s when I felt I really needed to listen.
Camp determines what kind of music player you can have; we aren’t allowed phones or anything with an internet connection.
There will be times when your kids want to sing and dance in the cabin, so having speakers is a good idea!
There will also be times when everyone’s feeling pretty tired so some chilled out music is a good option.
Sometimes, when you’re tired and overwhelmed, going for a run is the best thing for you.
This is a great way to clear your head and help you start the day in a happier and healthier way!
I would really recommend doing this at least once a week to give you some alone time.
You’ll be surprised how much of a mood changer going for a run can be at times.
I also gave my kids the option to come with me, if they felt they needed to do the same.
The camp environment is usually pretty stunning and the stars are one of the absolute highlights.
We were given an hour off on a Saturday night to get some time to chill without the kids around.
We grabbed a bunch of blankets and headed down to the lake where we lay out on the dock and looked up at the stars.
There’s nothing more calming or magical than laying under a sky full of dazzling stars with your best friends!
