If you’re looking for the best Summer Camp advice, then who better to get it from than a Camp Director? A summer at camp will be totally life-changing, but getting the low down before you fly is a good idea. In today’s Guest Blog, Camp Director Amanda from Camp Chinqueka talks us through her best Summer Camp advice!
Being a Camp Counselor is arguably one of the toughest jobs in the world. But, it’s one of the most rewarding too! It’s a bit of a misconception that it’s an easy job. Directors are looking to hire Counselors who are fun, but who can also handle stress and stay positive. It’s pretty much impossible to write a clear-cut job description of everything a Camp Counselor will do in a day. Every day at camp is different from the one before, but this is what makes camp so fun.
I could go on forever about this because there’s simply no great job than being a Camp Counselor. You’ll teach every day, but you’ll also learn so much about yourself and gain a great deal of perspective. You might not expect to become best friends with the other Counselors, but you will. Our staff get on so well that they travel together after camp and keep in touch with each other all year. Some of our staff have even recently been at each other’s weddings! It’s totally life-changing.
When you’re building your profile to apply to Summer Camp, there are a few dos and don’ts you should follow. Make sure you put up a clean, happy photo of yourself smiling as your profile picture. Don’t put up a glamour shot selfie with sunglasses or accessories. Save those for Snapchat instead! To help you create the perfect profile for Camp Directors, We’ve put together a Summer Camp profile guide for anyone who’s building their profile.
