Las Vegas

Nicknamed Sin City and based in the red hot state of Nevada, Las Vegas is the first place on everyone’s list if they want a good time. The Las Vegas strip is like no other, filled with neon lights, crazy buildings and incredible fountains.

On the top of our list

The Strip is like something out of a fantasy where everyone is dressed up, singing and dancing on tables. You’ll be sure to meet some well-known faces and definitely an Elvis or two. It’s a place where enjoying yourself is the number one priority. We’re pretty certain with all the various activities, sights and shows, Vegas won’t let you down.

It’s a total myth that you need to be 21 to enjoy Las Vegas. There are so many great alternatives to sitting in a dark casino inserting chips into a slot machine. Las Vegas has a wide selection of kooky museums that can really tell you a lot about America’s recent history and culture. Why not look at Pinball Hall of Fame or the Neon Museum – a graveyard for old casino signs.

A ‘must-do’ is to head right to the top of the city’s signature attraction, the Stratosphere. You can get an incredible view from the top of the observation deck. This hotel and casino own its very own rides and attractions. Don’t miss Insanity, X-Scream or Big Shot, but if you really want an experience, you need Skyjump! An 829 foot descent by jumping off the Stratosphere Tower.

What’s really cool to do

Make sure you book your seat to see the Cirque du Soleil and be amazed by this incredible show.  If you’re super lucky you could be in Vegas at the same time as a famous fight night.

You need to go and watch the jumping fountains at the Bellagio, hit the Venetian, tour around Wynn and go round Planet Hollywood or Caesars Palace.  There are loads of shops in every casino as well as malls nearby.

If you can afford it, jump onto a helicopter and take the Grand Canyon tour.  First of all, it’s a great excuse to go on a helicopter ride, then you get to view one of the worlds most amazing sights, and fly down to the bottom for a stop off!

Food places

With so many to choose from, we’ve discovered a few cool options. If you fancy somewhere that’s a little out of the ordinary, try the Harley Davidson Cafe. A great place to have a burger, steak sandwich, or a hotdog! For the steak lovers, you’ve gotta check out the Hard Rock’s 35 Steaks.  Loads of steaks, naturally, and fish or chicken for others.  Another favourite is Rao’s in Caesars Palace. Speciality dishes include the Spaghetti Bolognaise, but the whole menu is incredible.

Where to chill in the day

Why not get out of the city and spend a day exploring the Las Vegas Springs Preserve. It’s Nevada’s own oasis full of tropical gardens, nature reserves and bike trails.

If you’re not up for moving far from the hotel, take some time out by your pool and soak up the sunshine.

What to do if you love sports

Sports in Las Vegas are a little different to the rest of America.  As there are no direct sports teams, you can’t catch a game, unless you’re watching a show with the Harlem Globe Trotters.  But there are plenty of places to watch sports in bars.

If you’re a golfer there are lots of incredible courses you can play. Take your clubs with you, or hire some and enjoy some of the finest courses in America.

For the super, super lucky people, you may be in Vegas on fight night.  MGM Grand is the ultimate and the pinnacle location for any kind of boxing.  If you are in Vegas on fight night, it’s one of the best types of entertainment and atmospheres you’ll ever witness.

Where to party

Why leave partying to after hours? You can start the ball rolling in the sunshine and go to a pool party! Some of the best places to go are first and foremost, Wet Republic at MGM Grand. Prince Harry has been known to party here, amongst others.  The original pool party is a Rehab at the Hard Rock Casino. There’s a party Friday to Sunday, but Sunday is the main day for Rehab. It’s the biggest and one of the best, so don’t miss it.

In the evenings there’s almost too much choice! Tao at the Venetian is a favourite of ours, as is XS at Wynn.  It’s VIP all the way and the world’s biggest DJ’s are there. Make sure you get yourself on the guestlist or get yourself a table if you can, stand out from the crowd!

As far as bars are concerned – there’s almost too many. You can find a Coyote Ugly Saloon in New York New York, you can hit the Mermaid Bar at Silverton Casino.  In the mermaid bar, fish and humans coexist stylishly together! Our favourite bar is Ghostbar.  55 floors up at the Palms Casino with views of the whole strip. It’s the best bar in Vegas, or so we think!
