Hockey Coaches at Summer Camps

Hockey is a huge part of life at camp in America! Summer Camps in America look to hire qualified coaches to lead hockey sessions. Teach hockey at summer at camp and find the perfect role for you. Whether you’re used to playing hockey on the field, ice or roller rink, camp has you covered. Camp typically won’t have an ice rink. However, if you’re an ice hockey player you’ll be able to swap your ice skates for roller skates. Prepare to get ready for a game of roller hockey in a warmer climate!

It’s not essential to hold any qualifications to teach hockey at camp. We’ll need to find out your ability level, what experience you have and if you’ve ever experienced any coaching in the field. If you’ve played hockey for a club, or for your college or university team, then you could be hired as a Camp Counselor to help run hockey sessions alongside an experienced coach.

Field, Roller or Ice. What does it involve?

A typical day teaching hockey at camp will see you running coaching sessions to help campers improve their skills. You’ll help to run and officiate matches. Alongside all of this, you’ll focus on making sure everyone is having fun. Making the most of everyone’s time at camp is the number one priority!

Ice hockey is big at camp, so some camps hold roller hockey inter-camp championships! They’ll have different age groups competing to be number 1!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Hockey Coaching Qualification?

We would recommend that you have a qualification or coaching experience in hockey, but if you don’t but are a strong player, with knowledge and experience then we would be able to find a role teaching this at camp. We also have lots of General Counsellor roles as well.

I play Ice Hockey. Is this at camp?

Because Ice Hockey is so closely related to Roller Hockey, you’ll be able to swap skates, for rollers! All the equipment is pretty much like for like, but these American summers and outdoor rinks make it hard for the ice not to melt!

Is field hockey big in America?

Yes, it is. Camps have field hockey daily.  Their aim, like all other camp activities, is to improve the children’s abilities, and make the sessions fun and enjoyable!   If you’re into field or traditional hockey, apply now.

Will I get chance to take part in other activities?

Yes. Being a hockey coach doesn’t mean you’ll teach hockey all day.  Camp has breaks and free periods, loads of chance for you to play ultimate frisbee, hit the lake, chill out or shoot some hoops!

You’ll be a big part of team games and will join in with everything that camp does!
