You’ve done it! After weeks of interviews and preparation, you’ve landed your dream summer job at a US Summer Camp. The anticipation is over, and your American adventure is just around the corner. But before you jet off, there are a few important things to get sorted to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Here’s your step-by-step guide to get camp-ready.

Upload Your Documents

To move forward in your application, you’ll need to upload three key documents to your USA Summer Camp profile:

  • Passport – We just need a photo of your main passport page
  • Police Check
    • UK applicants: You’ll need an ACRO Police Check dated after September 1st.
  • References – We require 2 completed references, using our reference form format.
  • Health History Form – If you have a pre-existing medical condition, we’ll send you a short health form to fill out. It just helps us understand your condition and any treatment you’ve had, so we can make sure everything’s in place for a safe and happy summer.
  • Camp Contract – upload your full contract which camp will send to you directly.

Getting these documents uploaded early helps avoid delays with your placement or visa.

Your J-1 Visa

To legally work at a Summer Camp in the USA, you’ll need a J-1 Visa. Don’t stress—we’ll help you through the whole process!

Once your documents are uploaded, we’ll start ordering your official visa paperwork. When it’s ready, your profile will unlock detailed Visa Guides that walk you through everything you need to do.

Book Your Pre-Departure Orientation

Attending a Pre-Departure Orientation is a mandatory part of the programme and your visa requirements.

At this session, which is usually online, we’ll talk through everything you need to know about heading to camp, including travel tips, what to pack, and what to expect on arrival. You’ll also get advice for your first few days and learn more about travelling after camp.

Failure to complete this orientation may risk your placement and visa, so don’t skip it!

Stay in Touch with Camp

Once you’re hired, your camp might need more information from you—so keep a close eye on your emails!

Your contract will also be sent through after your placement is confirmed. Read it carefully and sign it as soon as possible to secure your role.

Ignoring messages or missing deadlines can put your placement at risk—so stay on top of your inbox!
