What’s Involved in Coaching Football at Camp?

Do I Need Qualifications to Coach Football at Summer Camp?

While qualifications can strengthen your application, they are not always required. Camps value passion, enthusiasm, and the ability to inspire young players just as much as coaching certifications. 

If you don’t have formal qualifications but love the game and are confident in leading sessions, you can still apply! Many camps will pair you with experienced coaches to help you develop your coaching skills on the job.

If you have any of the following, it could boost your chances of landing a specialist coaching role:

  • FA Level 1 or 2 Coaching Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Previous coaching experience (school, club, or volunteer coaching)
  • Experience working with children
  • First Aid or CPR certification (advantageous but not essential)
