 - When US Embassy Appointments become available and you have your DS-2019 form and SEVIS ID you must book an appointment. Failure to book, or attend when there is availability can affect your ability to participant on the programme.

 - Criminal Background Check
As part of the application process, all participants, including returners, must undergo a criminal background check to ensure eligibility for participation in the BridgeUSA programme, placement at a U.S. summer camp, and J-1 visa process. Costs for a criminal record check vary from country to country, and payment will be the responsibility of the applicant.- You are required to declare any criminal convictions on your application, including juvenile cautions, reprimands, and current charges on your application form. This is also a requirement of the US Embassy as part of the visa process. As Embassy regulations are extremely strict, non-disclosure of information may result in a longer visa process and in some cases, visa refusal. Failure to reveal information that is directly relevant to the position sought could lead to withdrawal of an offer of employment. No refunds will be given to participants whose visa has been refused due to a non-disclosed criminal background. Failure to disclose details of criminal convictions (including juvenile, cautions, and current charges) are grounds for dismissal from the programme and will lead to any payments already made being forfeited. If you have had incidents with the law, you are advised to discuss such matters with your interviewer, local recruiter, or the USASC/IENA office before you are interviewed for the programme. Offences relating to drugs or violence will render you ineligible for the programme. Please also note that some camps undertake random drug testing during the summer and/or require drug testing upon your arrival at camp.
 - USASC/IENA requires all participants, including returners, to provide a recent Criminal Background check. Costs for a criminal record check varies from country to country and payment will be the responsibility of the applicant. USASC/IENA reserves the right to dismiss anyone from the programme, without compensation or refund, if they are found to have concealed any criminal conviction, caution, or pending charge.
 - By creating an account and agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you will be providing your full consent for this background check to be shared with camps.
 - Applicants without a clear police check should be aware that additional costs will be incurred if additional checks are deemed necessary and may also incur substantial additional Embassy costs during the visa application process.
 - Applicants should be aware that they may be required to complete additional US State Police checks and fingerprint checks (in addition to checks completed in their home country). When required, these checks are completed upon arrival at camp. Checks are handled differently by each camp and state. Some additional charges may apply.
 - Any edited, manipulated or forged Criminal Background Checks will result in immediate cancellation from the programme.

 - Camp Placement Process
- Camp placements are based on your availability, experience and specific needs of each camp.
 - Placement is not guaranteed and is subject to your compliance with all USASC guildelines and all US Department of State requirements for BridgeUSA J-1 visa holders.
 - USASC/IENA may suggest potential host employers, but the decision to accept a placement rests entirely with the participant.
 - You should make yourself as available as possible to as many camps as possible. If offered an interview with camp, you should dress, act accordingly in order to get offered a job role.
 - Camp placement offers can be made at any point between completion of a full application and July 1.
 - Online and in-person fairs may be offered throughout the year. Attendance to as many as possible will increase your placement opportunities.

 - BridgeUSA Visa Process and Requirements
To participate in the programme, you must obtain a J-1 visa issued by a US Embassy or Consulate. You cannot participate in the programme without a BridgeUSA visa stamped in your passport unless you hold a US Passport.
Preparing for your appointment- Once you have accepted a camp placement and completed your application, IENA will issue your DS2019 form along with instructions on how to apply for your BridgeUSA visa at your nearest US Embassy or Consulate.
 - You are required to declare to USASC/IENA in your application any previous US visas applied for. Failure to declare this information can have serious consequences on your visa application and may result in your cancellation from the programme and any payments will be forfeit.
 - Once you have accepted a placement and have completed your application in full, USASC/IENA will send you your DS-2019 form and instructions on how to apply for the BRIDGE USA visa at your nearest US Embassy/Consulate.
 - You cannot participate on the programme without a BRIDGE USA visa stamped in your passport, unless you hold a United States passport.
 - The BRIDGE USA visa is obtained by attending a face to face interview at your nearest US Embassy/Consulate (excluding Canadian citizens, for whom it is not required). All US Embassies now impose dollar-based visa fees mandated by Congress (currently USD $185, plus courier fees), which you will be required to pay in addition to USASC payments (see our website for fees). Applicants are also responsible for the costs of travel to and from their visa appointment and any courier fees charged by the embassy. Applicants are advised to complete visa interview formalities as soon as possible, once placement is confirmed. US Embassies are very busy after April 1st, which may lead to difficulties in booking a timely interview date. Failure to book a timely appointment will constitute cancellation from the programme.
 - It is an expectation of the US Embassy for all participants to provide a proof of return to their home country.
 - It is recommended by the US Department of State that visa applicants schedule their BRIDGE USA Visa interview at a US Embassy or Consulate in their country of citizenship or residence. While you can apply in a third-party country, this may lead to an increased chance of visa denials.

 - Visa Refusal
- If you are refused a visa by the American Embassy/Consulate, you are required to inform USASC/IENA immediately.
 - USASC/IENA cannot be held responsible for decisions made by a US Embassy, Consulate, or representative of the US Department of State. USASC/IENA has no influence over Embassy decisions, nor can we appeal a visa decision.
 - You will be subject to a thorough check on your Social Media by the US Government. Items on your social media past and present that could be deemed detrimental to your visa application are your responsibility.
 - In the event of a visa denial, exchange visitors have the option to reapply for the BRIDGE USA Visa. Applicants will be required to pay the US Embassy fee a second time.

 - If any of the provisions of this agreement are, or become to any extent or in any circumstances, invalid or are ruled illegal or deemed unenforceable for any reason under current applicable law from time to time, then to the extent or in those circumstances it is the intention of the parties that this shall not affect the validity or enforceability of this agreement or any of the provisions of this agreement and if such provision would be valid if some part of the provision were deleted or modified, the provision in question shall apply with such deletion or modification as may be necessary to make it valid provided that the operation of this clause would not negate any commercial intent and the purpose of the parties under this agreement.
 - You agree to abide by all lawful rules and regulations of USASC/IENA and of the camp at which you are placed and to fully indemnify and hold USASC/IENA completely harmless from and against any liability, obligation, loss, and expenses including court costs and legal fees incurred by USASC/IENA, your camp/resort or a third party resulting from any injury, loss, property damage, or expenses that you directly or indirectly cause or to which you contribute.
 - USASC/IENA and its affiliates, agents, and employees shall not be liable for claims or costs whatsoever that arise from any injury, loss, damage, delay, accident, or expense resulting from events beyond USASC/IENA control including (but not limited to) natural disasters, acts of war or terrorism, strikes, incidents of politically motivated violence, sickness or quarantine, government restrictions or regulations, or transportation accidents.
 - You accept full responsibility for your own actions as an adult during the summer and during any post-camp travel.
 - While in the US, exchange visitors are subject to US laws and the American civil and criminal justice system. Failure to obey federal, state, or local laws will not only result in your dismissal from the USASC/IENA programme but may result in legal ramifications. IENA is not responsible for any liabilities you may incur for civil or criminal liability, nor is IENA responsible to defend you in any way regarding any legal claims made against you.
 - In addition to the support of USASC/IENA, all exchange visitors will have direct access to and the support of the US Department of State. Participants, or anyone concerned about a participant, can contact the State Department at any time via the hotline 1-866-283-9090 or at [email protected].
